This foundational course in reading explores literacy development and the structure of language by
- defining the relationship between cognitive and linguistic development
- assessing literacy development
- nurturing the development of emergent literacy, and
- investigating and planning instruction for the five components of reading which include phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
Prerequisite(s): Admission to Post Bacc Program and Clear Fingerprint Background Check
