Tour the ancient world as we survey the development of civilization from the dawn of history to 1500 CE. This course examines the major cultures of China, Japan, India, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Medieval Europe, the Byzantine Empire, Africa, the Islamic Empire, and the Mayan, Aztec, Incan, and Native American worlds. Students will gain a foundation in the worlds major religious traditions such as Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism, as well as explore philosophical and political traditions such as Confucianism and Greek thought.
