SPAN 326 - Cultures and Civilizations of Latin America 3 Credit(s)
A study of the history, civilizations, and cultures of Latin America, from Prehistoric periods to the present. Selected topics are explored in depth, considering not only the similarities and differences between each nation that comprises Latin America, but also the aspects of their history and culture that shape the Latin American identity. Topics discussed include: Pre-Columbian civilizations, the Spanish conquest and colonization, independence, spiritual beliefs and religion, political movements, race, social and economic development, etc.
